Roundtable with NEETs and other vulnerable citizens of Paris
With the aim of understanding the needs and challenges of vulnerable citizens (in particular those Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEETs) in the city of Paris, the UP team hosted a roundtable discussion with local groups.
In order to find such groups, the UP team contacted local organisations who work on the re-inclusion of unemployed people in the workforce and on helping people who dropped out of studies, to find some training opportunities that would help them improve their chances of getting a job.
The roundtable was organised in person, as many of the participants expressed their preference for this format. The discussion started with a very short presentation to present the concepts and allow for a conversation. Given that we found that most of the participants were not familiar at all with the concept of Digital Action and its types, the conversation slowly morphed into a Q&A in which participants were trying to understand the different methodologies.
Some participants found that the round table was not useful for them in any way, claiming that “this type of activities are completely out of reach to us” and “we do not have the materials or the time to involve in such actions”. For others, however, the event was an interesting opportunity for the discovery of activities that they were not familiar with and the identification of other types of digital actions that they had been involved in themselves, without knowing.
